Meet Kathryn Horner
Founding designer Kathryn Horner holds a degree in Interior Design from Baylor University, a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Colorado Denver, and years of experience bridging architecture and interiors seamlessly in Texas and Louisiana.
Growing up in North Carolina, the larger landscape was my original source of inspiration. The humble beauty of the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains, the consistency of the rumbling Carolina Shoreline. I would watch the sun's ritualistic awakening from the edge of the coast and part of me awakened with it, thankful to know a place so well that I actually became a part of it, and was more myself within it. I was eighteen before I had that same experience with a building. Kundig's work was so humble, so confident, so content in its surroundings, and so indicative of its users and their needs. I knew then that I wanted life to always be experienced that way, and that I could help provide it.
Every project is unique, and is an opportunity to contribute to a site, a circumstance, a memory. It is an opportunity to consider and reconsider our relationship with our home, with each other, with ourselves, and to understand those relationships and needs so fully that the designer's work becomes truly meaningful.
The true purpose of the practice of interior design and architecture is that we might create homes that provide some delight; some beauty and comfort in spaces so indicative of ourselves that we are more ourselves within them, that we may live freer, fuller, more satisfying lives.
